 In Arts and Culture, Events

“Juneteenth Celebration 2010” is being held on Saturday June 19, 2010 from 12:30 –6pm in District Four’s Market Creek Plaza, a community festival attracting tourist and San Diego residents from throughout the region. This historic event is celebrated in cities throughout the nation and is the oldest nationally-celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.

We will kick-off the event at 12:30pm with a community health walk lead by the Buffalo Soldiers starting at the Joe & Vi Jacobs Center and ending at Market Creek Plaza’s Amphitheater Stage. Starting at 1pm enjoy live performances including singing, dancing, African drum, gospel, storytelling, college stepping, and much more!  Don’t miss the soul food, free workshops, face painting and jumpers for the kids! Market Creek Plaza is located near the corner of Market Street and Euclid Avenue, just a few blocks south of the I-94 Euclid Ave exit.
