Join CHE’LU, Inc. (Chamorro Hands in Unity-Links-Education) for Sunday’s casino run to Golden Acorn to support their sakman (outrigger canoe) project. A bus filled with jolly folks and holiday cheer will leave the Sons & Daughters of Guam Club at 10am for a day of fun and gaming.
The money raised will support CHE’LU’s efforts to celebrate and revive Chamorro canoe-building and sailing traditions here in San Diego and in the Mariana Islands. The organization is getting ready to launch their recently-completed, hand-crafted, 47-ft sakman and to lead interested people of all cultural backgrounds in re-learning how to sail using traditional navigational methods.
For more information about the casino run or the sakman project, contact Jojo Borja (619-993-1348) or Janice Bouffiou (619-261-4285).
