District Attorney's Youth Advisory Board Campaigns Premiere
The
The DA’s Youth Advisory Board was created in 2008 as an innovative program mentoring students in San Diego high schools to increase awareness about youth issues in our local community and reduce crime. Since 2012, there have been Youth Advisory Boards on three local campuses and student leaders have produced impactful campaigns, once of which was awarded a local Emmy. This year, the students have taken their outreach to a whole new level:
- Lincoln High School’s Respect and Responsibility campaign showcases collected perspectives from a variety of individuals on the value of respect and responsibility over one’s own actions. The students have created an online blog along with a video as their campaign’s main platform.
- Mira Mesa High School’s campaign The Fight highlights diversity and unity in the human struggle through a social media platform of a newly created mobile webpage.
- Scripps Ranch High School’s Redefine Success campaign encourages students to realize there are different paths to success for everyone and the most important achievement is happiness with oneself. The primary platform to host their campaign will be a mobile app designed by the students.
With the support of the greater San Diego community, the individual campaigns collectively have immense potential to empower our local youth. The YAB Campaigns Premiere will bring together school district officials, public dignitaries, community organizations, faith-based groups and outreach programs, all of which are threaded with a common belief in the power of the younger generation. We hope that you will join us to celebrate the culmination of work from these high-achieving students and leaders.
