THE NIGGA Project Experience – Film Screening & Workshop

The Nigga Project Experience is a workshop focused around a documentary designed to emotionally connect youth in our communities to the original intent behind the “N” word using elders in the community to speak on how they feel about the term. The goal of the film is to give youth an alternative thought to the word’s use and help them think critically about why they use the word so loosely.

After the documentary is shown, using trauma informed care we initiate activities with the viewers designed to provide healing from the injuries the “N” word and the experiences linked to the word may have caused. We also discuss how the term can be eradicated if at all possible and new words that we can use to identify one another as we progress out of bondage.
