Pat On The Back Foundation prepares to sponsor trip to tour the MLK Museum
“A
The museum chronicles the life of Dr. King and the MLK movement. This historical trip will be completely FREE for the youth selected to attend; and will include visits to historical sights and one overnight stay in Houston, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana; and a two-night stay in Atlanta, GA. Our goal is to provide the youth with an opportunity to see what those before them have done to make a better life for them TODAY. We hope that by connecting the visual history from the ‘generation of the past’ to the ‘leaders of tomorrow’, we can help the youth realize all that they can achieve in life. Dr. King said: “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.”– (“I Have a Dream” speech, August 28, 1963). This bus trip will be “a reality of that dream”.
The entire trip will be recorded by a professional videographer, for historical purposes. It will be made available for all to see on DVD. We want to make sure this youth trip is an experience they will never forget, something they will want to share with their friends, family, and schools. Our hope is that when they get older, they will want to ‘JUST GIVE BACK’ for other youth to experience the same.
