The Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library will present a wide range of entertaining programs for Black History Month in February.
Among the offerings are:
Fashion Show with Ethnicity’s Unique Boutique at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3;
Film screening of “The Powerbroker: Whitney Young’s Fight for Civil Rights” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.6;
Performance by Eveoke Dance Theater of “I Speak. . .Dance” at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7;
Black history exhibit and talk at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10;
Performance by PGK Dance at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12;
Comedy show by Extreme Rahim at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15;
Antonio TJ Johnson portrays August Wilson and other influential African American artists with “Walking in the Shadows of August Wilson” at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22;
Former Freedom Riders and CORE participants along with Mayor Bob Filner will talk about their ride from Los Angeles to Mississippi at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23;
Stories and music by Kunama Mtendaji at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24;
and musical performance by Todo Mundo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
