The ASCEND PROJECT – “Learning Life” through Movement

Through 10 to 12 week sessions, once a week for 1½ hours the ASCEND group receives intensive, training in contemporary dance technique, followed by 1 hour in choreography with Peter G. Kalivas, Artistic Director of The PGK Dance Project and ‘PGK’ faculty. The participants are provided several opportunities to perform and present work they learn at the end of each session.

What each dancer receives
Advanced dance training, performance opportunities, training in skills necessary in the ‘business’ of dance.

When and where
Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Malcolm X Library
Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Kroc Center

Work-study requirement
Participants will be required to learn and perform tasks related to marketing, community relations, promotion and production in exchange for this free training (similar to a work/study format).

Eligibility
Must be a young adult, 16-25 years old. Low income is based on standards of the City of San Diego, national scale where the individual currently qualifies for social services, tuition assistance, waivers, etc.
