Jacobs Center uses Live Polling to Digitally Engage Stakeholders Interested in Redevelopment
On
The Jacobs Center has issued a Request for Proposals to hire a consultant to prepare a comprehensive Town Center Master Plan. This Master Plan will guide future development projects and help achieve a vibrant town center in the heart of Southeastern San Diego’s Diamond Neighborhoods. A consultant will be selected by the end of January 2016 and the Jacobs Center will move forward aggressively to have the Master Plan completed by the end of May 2016. A fact sheet on the Redevelopment Master Plan can be found here.
At this information session, the Jacobs Center also digitally engaged attendees on their smartphones using a service called Mentimeter.
This easy to use online polling system allows participants to provide their input and instantly see the results. Attendees were asked the following:
- What type of equal opportunity and sustainable developments would they like to see in their community?
- What does “resident ownership” of the Jacobs Center’s developments mean to them?
- What type of businesses and entrepreneurship opportunities are they interested in seeing come to the Diamond Neighborhoods?
- What type of programs or workshops do they consider the most valuable right now?
This feedback, as well as input previously provided at past town halls and workshops, will be used to help inform the Redevelopment Master Plan.
The Jacobs Center is excited to continue to use this technology and other new ways to digitally engage residents. Making it easier for residents to share their ideas moves us all closer to realizing our shared vision of creating a community where we can all live, work, play, learn, and create!
